Women undergoing an operative hysteroscopy faced a 1.6% risk of uterine perforation in a series of 2,116 surgeries done at a single hospital in France during 1990-2000.
This finding was consistent with results of other large, prospective studies that have reported perforation rates of 1%-1.5%, said Dr. Aubert Agostini and associates from the Hopital de la Conception in Marseille (J. Am. Assoc. Gynecol. Laparosc. 9[3]:264-7, 2002).
