CABANATUAN CITY-The Bureau of Internal Revenue in Nueva Ecija has uncovered a tax scam involving the use of fake documents in real property transactions.

Jose Paulino, chief of the BIR revenue district office here, said the irregularity involving the use of fake BIR certificate authorizing registration (CAR) forms had deprived the government of millions of pesos.

The CAR is a certificate of payment and authority to transfer real property from one person to another. The form bears payment of capital gains tax and documentary stamps and is necessary before the …
