The government, tourism officials and the army yesterday said Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and Mgahinga National park are safe. The government spokesman, Dr James Nsaba Buturo, while reacting to reports that the UPDF had engaged suspected Interahamwe militia at the Ugandan border post of Bunagana, Kisoro near DR Congo, clarified that no confrontation occurred in Bwindi and Mgahinga parks. He said the incident involved three robbers who had crossed from the DRC to steal cattle.
