Pornographic websites are being accessed on free computers in public libraries in Aberdeen, it was claimed yesterday.

And people are using the computers - which could be seen by children - to look at these websites all day long.

A member of the public, who wished to remain anonymous, said: "People can be there all day, playing games, going on chatrooms or looking at dodgy websites.

"Although the computers which children have access to have NetNanny on them blocking the dodgy sites, the children could still walk past the adult section and see the computers being used for dodgy websites." Computers and internet access in public libraries are free for usage by anyone, as long as they provide proof of their identification and address.

Anyone seeing the library computers being used for such a purpose should report the user to library staff, an Aberdeen City Council spokeswoman said.
