WASHINGTON, June 3 (ONASA - AFP) - US President George W. Bush announced Thursday that he had accepted the resignation of CIA director George Tenet for "personal reasons." "Today, George Tenet, the director of the CIA submitted a letter of resignation," Bush said in a hastily convened public appearance on the South Lawn of the White House. "I accepted his letter." Deputy CIA director John McLaughlin will take over in mid-July, when Tenet's resignation is effective, said the Bush. The president said he had met with Tenet, who had run the Central Intelligence Agency since July 1997, at the White House. "I had a good visit with him.
