Mauritius ratifies Convention on intangible cultural heritage.

Dakar, Senegal (PANA) - Mauritius Wednesday became the second Member State after Algeria to ratify the 2003 UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, according to a release by the UN agency.

The release said UNESCO director-general Koichiro Matsuura welcomed the move, noting that Japan was also set to follow suit next week with the deposition of its instrument of acceptance at the UNESCO headquarters on 15 June.

In March this year, Algeria was the first State to deposit its instrument of approval of the Convention, which will enter into force three months after …
