The American Foreclosure Network has changed its name to "American Legal and Financial Network (AFN)" to better reflect the organization's mission.
"First and foremost, we are an attorney-based legal services organization," said William LeRoy, the group's executive director, "And as such it was time to make a clear statement to the marketplace."
As an open organization, the AFN seeks to partner with other professional groups for the betterment of the industry, he said. One such group is the National Foreclosure Professionals. Founded in 1994 as an organization of small and midsized law firms, NFP attorneys focus their practice on the mortgage industry. And leaders of both groups have discussed how they might work together.
As a result, the attorney members of the NFP have been invited to enroll for membership in the AFN.
"This industry has evolved tremendously over the last 10 years," said Michael McKeever, president of the NFP. "As our attorneys have grown and evolved with the industry, we recognized our need to become part of a strong industry group with a focus upon maintaining the true 'attorney-client' relationships with its clients.
