Along with speeding and parking fines, operators and drivers now have to be careful not to contravene the London Lorry Control Scheme - unless they want to be hit with a huge fine. The Association of Local Government (ALG) has decided to decriminalise enforcement of the London Lorry Control Scheme (LLCS) but instead to force operators to cough up [pounds sterling]500 and drivers [pounds sterling]100 for 'alleged contravention'. If operators pay up within 14 days the fee is reduced to [pounds sterling]250. Operators also have to inform the ALG of the driver's identity so that he or she can be fined [pounds sterling]100.
