Sudesh K Verma in Bareilly and Pilibhit May 7. - Why didn't any party field Ms Priyanka Chopra from Bareilly? In an election thick with tinsel queen mothers and beauty queens, Ms Chopra would have been at home, and whichever party put her up in Bareilly would have been home and dry.
Bareilly, Ms Chopra's home town and one of the western UP seats that go to vote on Monday, is near-unanimous in its adoration for the ex-Miss World who is now, expectedly, a Bollywood heroine. She put us on the national and global map, residents say, and we would have voted for her. Caste and religion have no influence on this opinion.
