State minister for communication Michael Werikhe and Mbale Woman MP Oliver Wonekha have denied allegations that they campaigned against Mbale Municipality MP-elect Silvester Wanjusi Wasieba .

Werikhe and Wonekha told a Lumasaba programme "Power belongs to the people" on Radio Uganda on Friday that Mbale residents had accused them of not supporting Wasieba in the by-election.

"We did not agree anywhere as MPs of Mbale and Sironko districts that we should support or not support Wasieba.

"We knew it was the people themselves who had the power to decide on who to represent them …
