After being taken to court by migration officials and coming under fire by the Federal Energy Agency for its plans for the giant Samotlor Siberian oil field, TNK-BP is once again facing heat -- this time from the Federal Security Service.

The secret services are taking an interest in whether foreign executives in the British-Russian joint venture might have been given access to state secrets.

At issue is Article 5 of the law on state secrets, which restricts the kind of oil and gas industry data, including reserves, that Westerners are allowed to see.
