TOKYO, June 1 Asia Pulse - Electric Power Development Co., or J-Power, and Chubu Electric Power Co. (TSE:9502) on Monday announced the scaling back of plans to construct hydroelectric power plants in Gifu Prefecture, with power output dropped to 153,000kw, one-third of initial plans.
J-Power was to have built a 400,000kw pumping-up power plant using the Tokuyama Dam, which will to be constructed by the Japan Water Agency. Down the river, Chubu Electric was to have built a dam and a 24,000kw hydroelectric dam.
