TOKYO, June 1 Asia Pulse - The Telecommunications Ministry announced Monday that the number of broadband Internet service subscribers in Japan passed the 15 million mark as of the end of April.
The figure reached 15.37 million, up around 50 per cent in less than a year from the end of May 2003, when it topped 10 million. This means that 32.7 per cent of Japanese households had broadband connections as of the end of April.
The monthly increase of 462,000 subscribers in April was the highest since December 2003, but paled in comparison with the rise of 560,000 recorded in April 2003.
