JAKARTA, June 1 Asia Pulse - The Indonesian government's tax revenue target in the 2005 state budget will be increased to Rp27.6 trillion from Rp20.9 trillion in the previous year's budget, Director General of Taxes Hadi Purnomo said.
The 2005 figure would not include income tax from the oil and gas sector, Purnomo said yesterday.
"It (the 2005 target) is only revenue from taxes managed by the Directorate General of Taxes. It represents an increase of Rp23 trillion," Hadi said.
He expressed optimism that the 2005 target can be reached despite the introduction of a new taxation law.
Tax revenue as of May 21 stood at Rp78 trillion, which was 33 per cent of the 2004 state budget target of Rp209 trillion.
