SEOUL, June 1 Asia Pulse - South Korea's consumer prices dipped 0.1 per cent in May compared to the previous month, while moving up 3.3 per cent on the year, a government report said today.
The National Statistical Office (NSO) said the month-on-month drop was the first in half a year, with the 1.7 per cent decrease in agricultural prices along with stability in public sector charges and housing-related outlays contributing to the overall fall in prices.
The country's consumer prices have been on the rise since December 2003, but grew by zero per cent in the first month of the second quarter, as warmer weather meant an increase in agricultural shipments.
The latest numbers, however, revealed consumer price figures gaining by more than 3 per cent on year as a result of higher industrial goods prices and private sector changes. The ...
