NEW DELHI, June 1 Asia Pulse - Howden Insurance Brokers, which is accredited to world's leading insurer Llyods, started its Indian operations Monday after getting an Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA) licence.
Howden, which will be based in Mumbai, will shortly start operations in Delhi and Bangalore.
"India's economy is booming. Its insurance industry is maturing rapidly. We intend to capitalise on this growth by bringing to the market our proven expertise in specialist line and access to Llyod's and other markets," Howden CEO David Howden said in a statement.
Eminent cardiologist Naresh Trehan will have majority stake while Praveen Vashishta, Manohar Chainani and Howden Mauritius Ltd, an arm of UK-based Hyperion Insurance Group, will be the other joint venture partners in Howden India.
