TAINAN, June 1 Asia Pulse - Business turnover of the Tainan Science-based Industrial Park (TSIP) in southern Taiwan hit a new high of NT$43.13 billion (US$1.28 billion) during the March-April period, the Southern Taiwan Science-based Industrial Park Administration announced Monday.
The figure represents a 26.81 per cent increase over the January-February level and growth of 111.5 per cent in comparison with the figure recorded in the same period of last year, according to a report issued by the administration.
Among the five leading hi-tech industries that form the backbone of the TSIP, the combined business revenues of the opto-electronic and semi-conductor industries accounted for 93 per cent of the total turnover.
The opto-electronic industry topped the list, with turnover amounting to NT$28.907 billion, up 33.03 per cent from the previous period and an increase of 147.74 per cent over the same period of last year, accounting for 67.02 per cent of the total.
