She advocates tackling the energy dilemma both on a society and on a personal level she herself is starting action from her own home kitchen.
Ms Stephenson, a member of the Vestey 'beef baron' family but ironically a vegetarian, explains her concerns in an interview with Lloyd's List.
She says that reinsurer Munich Re has predicted that by 2060 the cost of damage related to climate change will outweigh the entire global gross domestic product.
Her party, which is fielding candidates in the European, Mayoral and London Assembly elections (she is vying for a seat in London), aims to ensure that energy needs are met constructively.
'Real progress means investing in sources of energy like offshore wind farms, wave and solar power, which do not cause global warming,' she says. 'The Green Party is committed to being more energy efficient so we do not generate power just to waste it.
