LET'S go back once again to golf, my sport today and forever. Anyway, in a few days, the US Open will be with us again. That means Tiger Woods might start grabbing the headlines anew-even if he hasn't really been playing that well. Superstars-the certified ones, especially-have a way of putting a spell on us, mortals.
Such is life, indeed.
Remember the book Joseph A. Dumuk gave me a while back? The one The Sporting News titled "Greatest Golfers," with Reid Spencer as author?
Well, I'll have to share it with you again for the queer reason that, after they listed Tiger Woods as the greatest golfer ever, they made Arnold Palmer fifth only in rank-behind Jack Nicklaus (No. 2), Ben Hogan (No. 3) and Bobby Jones (No. 4).
I disagree, of course.
