OVERSEAS Filipinos who were finally given a chance to exercise their right to vote in the May 10 elections broke traffic records on INQ7.net, as they relied heavily on the online news site for election updates.
Server traffic statistics show that INQ7.net-the online news site of the Philippine Daily Inquirer and GMA Network-received 10.6 million page views from May 10 to 15, or an average of 1.8 million page views a day.
During the same period, an estimated 1.4 million users visited the site. That's about 240,000 visitors daily.
These figures are almost double the regular daily traffic of INQ7.net, which ranges from 800,000 to a million page views.
A page view is a request for a single webpage on a given site. The number of page views measures the volume of traffic accessing a certain website. As circulation shows the level of readership of a newspaper, the number of page views indicates how many times the website is being accessed by online users.
