CAR owners, beware.
Environment Secretary Elisea Gozun yesterday warned motorists about the sale of contaminated chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) or fake freon in the local market.
If used, the contaminated products, whose illegal importation and sale in the country have been discovered by the Bureau of Customs (BoC), could damage a car's air-conditioning system.
"We found out that there is rampant importation and selling of mislabeled and contaminated HFC 134a or Refrigerant 134a. Using contaminated and mislabeled substances can cause serious damage to car air-conditioners," Gozun said in a statement.
