DISPUTING a claim that she was a "total user and a liar," liposuction surgeon Vicki Belo yesterday filed two counts of libel against television host Rosanna Roces for accusing her of having performed a "totally unsatisfactory liposuction" on the actress, and for calling her "a mere aerobic instructress not licensed to perform liposuction."
Belo, known in show business circles as "a doctor-to-the-stars," is claiming P10 million in moral damages after the actress allegedly fired off a "barrage of vilifying remarks" against her in two separate interviews on the television talk show "The Buzz."Roces had dismissed the charges, and added that her lawyers are preparing a statement after they review Belo's complaint.
The actress on Saturday told Inquirer that she was thinking of suing Belo, whom she had accused of starting the rumor that her daughter Grace Adriano, 15, was pregnant by newly-elected Sen. Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr.'s son, Jolo, 16.
Earlier, the actress also faced a libel charge filed by businessman Joselito Manlongat, who she had referred to as a car thief in her weekly television show "Startalk" on GMA 7 in 2002. The charges were dismissed last year.
