A new Dictionary of Accounting lands on our desk from Harry Potter publishers Bloomsbury and - interpreto correctus! - it has taken care of most of the mistakes we highlighted on this page last autumn with its Dictionary of Banking & Finance. But while we don't underestimate the lexicographer's art, we're mystified by some of the omissions from this tome. For example, the phrase Big Four is defined as meaning the four leading British banks - or alternatively the four largest Japanese banks - but makes no mention of the global accountancy firms.
