SK GROUP TO INVEST UP TO $US17 BLN IN CORE BUSINESSES BY 2007
SEOUL - SK Group, South Korea's third-largest conglomerate, on Thursday pledged to invest up to 20 trillion won (US$17.06 billion) in its three core businesses - information-telecommunication, energy and bio-science - by 2007, creating 90,000 new jobs.
The plan was announced after the group held a research and development committee meeting presided over by Chey Tae-won, chairman of SK Corp., the group's de facto holding company.
VIETNAM, FRANCE SIGN NUCLEAR POWER DEAL
HANOI - Viet Nam and France on Wednesday signed an agreement nuclear cooperation for peaceful purpose.
Viet Nam's Deputy Minister of Industry, Nguyen Xuan Thuy and a representative of France's Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industry signed the document according to which Paris pledged to support Viet Nam to develop its fledgling nuclear technology.
