MANILA, May 20 (Xinhua) -- The Philippine presidential palace warned Thursday of an anti-government plot linked to the bitterly contested national elections and called for sobriety and prudence.

"Any plotters of destabilization must realize that they are isolated and cannot succeed. They must desist and allow constitutional and democratic processes to run their course," Philippine Presidential spokesman Ignacio Bunye said in a palace statement.

"They are being closely watched by the authorities and must not cross the line of the law," he added.
