REJUVENATED Baltic shipowner the Latvian Shipping Co has increased its order with Croatian shipyard 3 Maj to 10 vessels as new EU regulations on oil transport cut down it first quarter profit.

The privatised Riga-based shipowner has exercised two options through its subsidiary company Crown Navigation with the Adriatic yard for the middle range product tanker duo scheduled for delivery in 2008.

Both 51,800-dwt tankers will be built to a similar specification to the eight vessels already under order, with double-hulls and the ability to carry both oil and chemical products.
