(From Irish Independent)
A DOG that became so ill from over-breeding it was almost dead has been recovered inan ISPCA raid on a puppy farm in Co Longford.
Officers from the ISPCA inspected a farm in the Longford area last Tuesday after a tip-off from the public.
When they visited the farm, officers found 51 assorted dogs living in very poor conditions.
While most of the dogs were described as being in "OK" physical condition, their livingconditions were described as appalling, as they were living in small kennels which were filthy.
The dogs were a mix of greyhounds, German Shepherds, Labradors and terriers. While no puppies were found on the scene, ISPCA officers say they believe they may have been recently moved elsewhere.
Most of the dogs were left at the scene as they were not being physically mistreated, butISPCA officers say they will continue to monitor the farm.
