A LUSAKA magistrates court yesterday dismissed an application for a bench warrant against former Zambia National Service (ZNS) commandant Wilford Funjika's co-accused, Kumar Rathi and his sureties for failing to appear in court.

This is in a case in which the duo is charged with corrupt practices.

Funjika on December 3, 2001, allegedly received £15,000 from Rathi, as gratification for awarding him a contract to supply berets, jerseys and raincoats to ZNS.

In dismissing the application, magistrate Lastone Mwanabo said he would pend the application for Rathi's bench warrant …
