PRESIDENT Levy Mwanawasa has declared Zambia's support for South Africa's bid for soccer's 2010 World Cup ahead of today's crucial vote in Zurich, Switzerland and called on his colleagues in the region to render their support as well.

The President's acting special assistant for Press and public relations Jack Kalala said in a statement that soccer was the number one sport in Zambia and the hosting of the World Cup in the Southern African region would go a long way towards improving standards in the country.
