MARKET UPDATE: Flat Panel Displays Lead Optoelectronics for 2001.(Statistical Data Included)

We came across the results of the outlook for the optoelectronics business published by the Optoelectronics Industry Development Industry Association (OIDA) in Washington, DC. Although it contained much about the telecom business, the Internet and broadband, the outlook also contained some good news for flat panel displays. Although 2001 optoelectronic components sales in general plunged almost to 1999 levels with the technology slowdown, flat panel displays accounted for the largest percentage of the current market.
