Number of private pension fund clients up by 52,000 in Q1.

PRAGUE, May 16 (CTK) - The number of clients of pension funds in CzechRep grew by 52,000 to 2.792 million in the first quarter, the biggest growth in the last four years, Eva Novakova of the Finance Ministry's press section told CTK, adding that in the full of last year pension funds lured 118,000 new clients.
Over a quarter of Czechs have private pension insurance. The number of people with this kind of insurance has been on the rise since January 2000.
"The growth is not as big and rather lags behind expectations," Tomas Prouza, an analyst of server Penize.cz, told CTK.
There are still many people without private pension insurance. It was expected that the discussion on the pension reform will motivate more clients to get insured. Most of the new clients came thanks to the decision of companies to contribute to their employees for this kind of insurance, he added.
In total, clients of pension funds deposited Kc73.7bn in the funds in over eight years. Together with state contributions, the amount of the deposited money at end-March stood at Kc94.2bn.
