(From BBC Monitoring International Reports)
[Announcer] The vice-president of the Episcopal Conference of Haiti has welcomed the news of the arrest of [Lavalas activist] Annette Auguste. Bishop Guire Poulard said that the arrest proves that the judicial authorities are doing their job impartially. He said that there are other Lavalas officials who should be brought to justice too, because, according to him, Auguste was just a link in the chain of the right-hand men working for [former President] Jean-Bertrand Aristide. Correspondent Luckenson Jean reports as follows:
[Jean - recording, in Creole] The bishop of the Southeast District has welcomed the news of Auguste's arrest. He said legal action should be taken against all the people who were involved in crimes under the Aristide regime.
[Poulard] I believe that the judicial authorities are doing their job. I hope that legal actions will also be taken against all the people who were involved in criminal acts.
[Jean] Bishop Poulard said Auguste's arrest is just a link in the chain and that there are other Lavalas officials who should be arrested too. He points to former Lavalas Prime Minister Yvon Neptune.
