Small-cap firms buck regional fall to become day's top gainers.

SMALL-CAPITALISED companies bucked the drag of falling regional markets yesterday, collectively rising to become the day's biggest gainers.

Led by Inch Kenneth Bhd, counters like Sungei Bagan Bhd, Kluang Rubber Co Bhd, Kuchai Development Bhd, Ayer Molek Bhd rose further, spurred in part by the speculation that they are coming up with bonus issues, dealers say.

The performance of these stocks yesterday was at odds with those of the larger market. Bursa Malaysia Bhd lost 2.6 per cent, or 21.9 points yesterday, following the trend across Asia. Dealers said the big funds moved to the sidelines on fears that US interest …
