Has there ever been a major leaguer who played all nine positions during a nine-inning game? If so, who did it and when?
Steve Mastro Orlando, Fla,
Through the 2001 season, there have been four major leaguers who played all nine positions in one game, including most recently Scott Sheldon of the Rangers who accomplished the feat on September 6, 2000 against the White Sox at Comiskey Park, and Shane Halter of the Tigers on October 1, 2000 against the Twins at Comerica Park.
Previously, Bert Campaneris of the Kansas City A's on September 8, 1965, and Cesar Tovar of the Minnesota Twins on September 22, 1968 played all nine positions in one game.
In the Baseball Quick Quiz in the July issue, a question asked for three players with the first name of Hank who have clubbed 40 homers in a season.
The answer of Henry Louis Gehrig was not one of the listed answers. Gehrig hit 47 homers in 1927, 41 in 1930, 46 in 1931, 49 in 1934, and 49 in 1936.
Funny thing is Henry Louis Aaron was properly listed.
