YALA (South Thailand), Mon. - Violence continued in southern Thailand when groups of militants ambushed Thai soldiers and hit a police post near the Malaysian-Thai border with grenade launchers.

Thai army blamed separatist group Bersatu for the attacks, in which one soldier was injured. They also bolstered their numbers with the arrival of 500 troops this morning.

The trouble started at 8pm, when rebels set fire to a district office in the Lae district. Soldiers in two Humvees were heading to the scene when they were ambushed along the Yala-Bentong road.
