ROTO RAP
BRENDAN ROBERTS
The major league season is roughly 12.5 percent complete. That's equivalent to one hour in a typical eight-hour workday. It's less than two miles into a 15-mile trip to work or school. It's about six bites--depending upon the size of the bite--into a 12-inch sandwich.
The season is so incomplete, fantasy owners need not call it quits or drastically change plans.
But heck, we're fickle people, aren't we? As fantasy owners, we tend to become so enamored of the moment, we forget about the past. We use names such as Mike Matheny and Mike Lieberthal in the same breath, even though the hot-hitting Matheny never has batted higher than .261 in a season and the slumping Lieberthal hasn't batted lower than .278 in a full season since 1998.
Be honest: Are you one of these people? Are you poring over early-season stats as if they are gold? Then you might want to look at a few players to pick up in trades from impatient owners.
Almost any Phillies hitter. A super offense has been exposed to kryptonite. Bobby Abreu, Jimmy Rollins, Marlon Byrd, Lieberthal--they all have been affected. But these guys will turn it around soon.
