The 2004 wide receiver class was considered one of the strongest in years, so it wasn't surprising that seven wideouts were taken in the first round and 31 were drafted overall, the most at any position. Wide receiver has been a popular position for years--at least 31 have been taken in each of the past five NFL drafts, making it by far the most drafted position over that span.
