* Maybe it's just the fact that I live near Fort Myers, Fla., and every spring we're invaded by pasty snowbirds with strange accents flocking to see their beloved BoSox. But somewhere along the line, I've developed a true disdain for Red Sox fans. All they do is whine. I grew up in Pittsburgh. With baseball's disastrous economics, my beloved Pirates will never be good. Ever. And on the odd chance they do become competitive, teams like the Red Sox will circle them like vultures, waiting for their players to become too expensive for the poor, small-market Pirates. So buck up, Red Sox Nation. It isn't pretty on the other side of the tracks. I can only wish my team was good enough to choke in the playoffs like yours, but unfortunately even .500 is a pipe dream.
