SEOUL, May 3 Asia Pulse - Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co. (KSE:47040), South Korea's second-largest builder by capacity, said Monday it had 1.03 trillion won (US$900 million) in first-quarter sales because of highly profitable orders it secured.

The figure is up 16.3 per cent from the corresponding period last year.

Daewoo Construction said its operating profit was up 1.8 per cent year-on-year to 102.8 billion won, while its current profits were 86.7 billion won and net profits 61.5 billion won, up 30.9 per cent and 32.7 per cent, respectively.
