SEOUL, May 3 Asia Pulse - LG Telecom Ltd. (KOSDAQ:32640), South Korea's smallest mobile phone operator, gained market share from its biggest rival SK Telecom Co. (KSE:17670) in April as the number of mobile phone switchers increased, according to the companies Monday.
Last month, LG Telecom added a net 272,706 cell-phone subscribers. The company's subscribers increased from March to 5.54 million and its market share rose to 15.59 per cent from 15.07 per cent.
The growth came at the expense of SK Telecom, which lost 0.66 percentage point of its market share in the month. The number of SK Telecom subscribers stood at 18.49 million at the end of April.
