MELBOURNE, May 3 Asia Pulse - The future of the Australian Stock Exchange Ltd (ASX:ASX) is linked more closely to Asia than the United States, and will remain vulnerable to direction in China, ASX chairman Maurice Newman has said.
"For us to go to the United States ... we are unlikely to attract a great deal of attention," Mr Newman said.
"(But) we have I think already got the attention of a number of exchanges within the (Asian) region, we have an ongoing dialogue with them, and I would see prospects of developing those relationships."
Mr Newman told Channel Nine's Business Sunday that while there had been no specific discussions relating to how the Australian and Asian stock exchanges could come together physically, the ASX "envisaged how some of these developments might unfold".
