MELBOURNE, May 2 Asia Pulse - The number of jobs advertised for the building and construction industry fell by more than 11 per cent in April.
Fears of rising interest rates took their toll, the Olivier Recruitment Group said today.
The Olivier Internet Job Index fell 6.36 per cent in April following steady growth in March and a record high number of job ads in February.
The index found that the number of jobs advertisements placed in April declined compared to March for 12 out of the 21 industry sectors.
Olivier Group director Robert Olivier said the results were due to the impact of the Easter break and Anzac Day long weekend and were unlikely to reflect a new trend in jobs advertised.
"Recruitment tends to go on hold during school holiday," Mr Olivier said.
"You could call it a trough between waves rather than dropping the tide based on our evidence so far.
