TRUEFAITH is one of those bands that appeal to almost everybody. And if you listen to their newest release, "Eto hits . . . acoustic" (EMI), you'll see why the band has kept on going when others have fallen by the musical wayside.
One of the groups that brought about the local scene's brief but serious band obsession during the early '90s, Truefaith has weathered a major break-up, management problems, a dud album, and a court battle of sorts.
Second wave
These days the band is riding high on a second wave of success, with their songs enjoying heavy airplay on both radio and television (that ubiquitous Nescafe commercial has their song, "Sumasarap ang Gising," for a theme). Their line-up has Medwin Marfil as vocalist and brother Eugene as band manager, Bimbo Yance as bassist, Jun Dizon as drummer, Jay Valencia as guitarist, and Jake Lumacad on keyboards.
"Eto hits . . . acoustic" isn't the band's first hits collection-they released "Memories are Cheap: The Best of Truefaith, 1993-2000" back in 2000-but it is their first acoustic one, making them one of the last to jump onto the acoustic bandwagon.
