TO help boost Oriental Mindoro's potential as a key tourist destination, National Transmission Corp. (Transco) committed to fast-track the implementation of transmission-related projects in the area.
The target is to complete these projects six months to one year ahead of schedule.
Transco president and chief executive Alan Ortiz said in an interview Thursday that the state firm would bring its Small Island Submarine Interconnection Development (SISID) program to Oriental Mindoro in line with its overall transmission development plan.
The Mindoro project is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2006 or the first half of 2007, "if we do it right," Ortiz said.
He said that the implementation of the Leyte-Cebu interconnection and capacity uprating project was key to kicking off the country's transmission line loop, which would include Mindoro.
