(From Philippine Daily Inquirer)
Byline: Michael B. Jaucian
IF GIVEN a chance, self-taught chemist and city environment officer Mariano Garcia, 58, of Barangay Guilid, Ligao City, would like to treat the Payatas solid waste dump in Quezon City to rid it of foul odor.
Garcia expresses confidence that he can help combat one of the major problems that the country is facing today-air pollution-with his discovery called Zeogen.
With Zeogen, he claims, he was able to eradicate the unbearable bad smell that used to be emitted by the solid waste dumpsite in Ligao City.
Citing what he did for the city's 2.5-hectare garbage site in Barangay Bonga, Garcia claims that he is very sure he can be of help to the government and to his countrymen in combating, at least, the threat of air pollution.
A visit to Ligao City's waste disposal area by the Inquirer proved that he was not emptily bragging because, indeed, the pile of trash was odorless. Thanks to his chemical concoction.
