CABANATUAN CITY-A group that supports the candidacy of President Macapagal-Arroyo claimed yesterday that it has already gathered 3 million signatures in support of Ms Macapagal nationwide in a caravan that also featured a Gloria look-alike contest.
The contest may produce a new spokesperson for Ms Macapagal and it will come after May 6 when the nationwide contest, under the auspices of Pro-Gloria, is concluded.
Pro-Gloria, which stands for Progressive Organization for Genuine Leadership, Outstanding Reforms, and Intelligent Action, is carried out through Biyaheng Gloria, a 45-day caravan supporting the candidacy of Ms Macapagal.
Contest organizers said they expect 12 to 14 finalists to vie for the title on May 6 at Plaza Miranda in Quiapo, Manila, said Robert Bastillo, national spokesperson of Biyaheng Gloria.
In a statement, Bastillo said his group was confident it would exceed its target of gathering 3.5 million signatures for Ms Macapagal.
