MEDAN, N Sumatera, April 30 Asia Pulse - Tax Director General Hadi Purnomo pointed out that Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is not an overseas exit tax free area in the northern tripartite economic cooperation betweeen Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand (IMT-GT).

"We consider Kuala Lumpur as not belonging to the IMT-GT, and therefore taxpayers travelling from Medan or any other region covered by the IMT-GT to Kuala Lumpur, are required to pay exit tax," he said in Medan Thursday.

Kuala Lumpur cannot be classified as an area under the IMT-GT, since the Malaysian capital city has its own administration.
