FINANCIAL risks associated with delays, particularly in today's strong shipping markets, is something the Strike Club is only too aware of.

Calculating how long the good times will last is a matter that few people are prepared to take a punt on although economists tend to talk in terms of three-year cycles.

'Obviously when you are in a market like this you have got to be prepared for the fact that when it levels out you won't have the same kind of situation and as a marine insurer we are very well aware of that,' says Nick O'Conor, financial director of the club.
