EDITORIAL / Don't let partisan games derail pension reform
Ongoing Diet discussions on pension reforms should be dismissed as pitiful. This is deplorable because the current Diet session on the state-run pension plan must serve as a forum for debates on an issue that can affect affairs of state for decades.
On Wednesday, the Health, Labor and Welfare Committee of the House of Representatives passed a set of bills related to pension reform with the backing of only the ruling parties. The opposition bloc boycotted the session on the bills, a major focus of the latter part of the Diet session.
