GOVERNMENT on Wednesday declared Kransneus, a farm 50 km south of Windhoek, State land and ordered a farmer who was in the process of evicting around 300 people to stop doing so.

The Khomas Regional Council told a delegation from the community not to move off the land and promised to instruct Government lawyers to halt the harassment that they have undergone.

A dispute erupted after a retired farmer, Jan Jacobs, allegedly bought 1 220 hectares of land on the farm from the Irion family at N$100 a hectare.

However, he has not paid the whole N$122 000.
